United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of outer space (COPUOS)

Message

Dear Delegates,

It is with immense pleasure and honour that I welcome you to the Cathedral International Model United Nations! I’m Ashwath Narekuli and I will be you chair for the Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space this year.

Being in the IB diploma program, I have never stopped to question what is right or why something should be. My insatiable curiosity about the way of life coupled with my love for history and political sciences, have always attracted me towards MUNs.

After attending my first MUN as a delegate of The SSAI, I fell in love with Science based committees and joined the Inter-Galactic Federation in the following year at CIMUN. I always enjoy a heated discussion about scientific affairs, during and away from MUNs, and it is exhilarating to be able to chair for a committee which does exactly that.

I would just like to tell you how thrilled I am to be able to chair for such a committee and how anxious I am to see the kind of debates you wonderful delegates are going to have to make this CIMUN as memorable as it can be!

Until we meet in September,

Ashwath Narekuli,

Chair, Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space,

Cathedral International Model United Nations 2017.
